About these Projects
These various projects feature illustrations, typography, digital imaging, and photography. Created from the years of 2010 through late 2015, they are all chosen works that I felt have meaning and a special sense of creativity.
Magazines & Posters Shown below are various posters using famous and historical typography, magazines covers. Each of these projects were inspired by different people and places in the world.
Meaningful Books Using both the "Futura Std" and "Baskerville MT Std" fonts, each use one solid deep blue color to create a poetic booklet using variations of typography to convey a creative and thoughtful message.
Digital Photography On this page you will see a selection of photography that was taken from the year of 2013 to late 2015. These photos were taken in various locations within South Korea.
Traveler Magazine Cover
Created in the Summer of 2010, this Traveler magazine cover design shows the beauty of Japan and conveys the message of the different cultural aspects while still being pleasing to the eye for the user. It was also inspired by my travels to Japan in 2009.
Univers Typeface Poster
Created in the Summer of 2010, this poster was inspired by the famous “Univers Typeface” and displays three different versions of this particular font on this poster. Each font includes Univers 65 Bold, Univers 39 Ultra Thin, and Univers 55 Roman.
Bauer Bodoni Typeface Poster
This Bauer Bodoni poster highlights the beauty of this typeface. It uses both striking and neutral colors to create pattern styles and a well-balanced feel from top to bottom. "Bodoni" is the name given to the serif typefaces first designed by Giambattista Bodoni (1740–1813) in the late eighteenth century and have frequently revived since. Bodoni's typefaces are classified as Didone or modern.
Century Gothic Typeface Poster
This poster was inspired by the font Century Gothic. Intended to create an elegant look, this poster uses type to create geometric shapes and gives a strong balanced look. Century Gothic is a sans-serif typeface in the geometric style, released by Monotype Imaging in 1991. It is strongly influenced by the font Futura, though with a higher x-height. Its design history also derives from two separate typefaces intended as Futura competitors. It is a digital typeface that has never been made into an actual foundry type.
I Love Taekwondo: Contest Poster
This poster was created for the South Korean Consulate located in Ghana, West Africa for an art / essay contest. The phrase “I Love Taekwondo” represents the love for the sport as well as for the Korean culture. Keeping in mind that this poster would contain a large amount of content, I felt this it was important for it to be detailed and still have great creativity that reflected the culture overall. I wanted the poster to grab people’s attention!
Whales Poem Storybook
Created with the concept of water and whales in mind, this poem booklet has many different quotes that are derived from many of the famous authors in the world. On different pages, each quote uses typography to tell a visual story. Only typography could be used to create the imagery, not shapes. Created on July 9'th, 2012.
Photography
These photos were taken from the Summer 2013 through the Winter of 2015. I decided to travel to Seoul and Jeju Island in South Korea in search of new ideas and aspects of design that would come to mind. Along the way, I photographed many different places, many of them eye-catching and some very touching. It has been said that a photograph is worth a thousand words, and while on this trip I was able to further discover my love for photography and my abilities on how to photograph well.
